Olivia Update

Thankfully Allison is recovering well. She will probably be in quite a bit of pain for the next two or three days but will improve with time. And, I forgot to mention that her appendix was removed too.

Olivia on the other hand is having a tougher go. Today, during Allison's surgery, Olivia was put back on a ventilator to help her with breathing. She began laboring with her breathing so the doctor wanted to help her out. He also gave her another dose of surfactant to help her lungs. She is a little anemic and her platelet counts are very low. She is being given a transfusion of blood right now and two different antibiotics. The doctor thinks all these signs point toward some kind of infection. We won't know for sure for two days when the blood cultures come back. Otherwise her breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure are all okay.

I am glad that the breathing and heart rates are good. It sounds like a possible infection is being treated and well monitored. I pray for you all everyday. The photo of her is very nice.

Thanks for doing such a great job Chad in updating your blog so frequently! I really appreciate being able to know what is going on. We are still praying for you all and will be praying that Olivia doesn't have an infection.

Just remember that through everything, Olivia is still stronger than you ever thought possible! With just a few days, you'll see that beautiful face again sans ventilator.

This is that whole roller coaster thing. Just try to hang on. Our hope - comfort for Allison and protection for Olivia.
