Wednesday Evening

Allison is coming home! Today she moved from IV meds to oral meds and the pain has stayed down. So tomorrow she will check out of the hospital for a week until her scheduled surgery next Thursday. Karla is staying the night with her and I am at home in a quiet condo looking forward to a long, peaceful night of sleep. Thank you, Karla, and thank you, Denise, for getting our home ready to return to.

Also, today Alvin got to see his little sister for the first time. He was interested in looking at her for about two minutes and then he wanted to look around at all the other things in the room - just like the nurse told me would happen.

Before seeing her for the first time he asked, "Where's Olivia?" And he pronounces her name very well. Then after being introduced and seeing her in the incubator he said, "Get out Olivia." He showed her his toy train and when her leg started moving he said, "What's she doing with her foot?" Then he started repeating her name, "Olivia, Olivia." Not long after that is when he began squirming around looking at other things so I took him to the family room to play with legos.
