Today Olivia is 27 weeks (according to her gestational age). She had a good night and is doing well today. As promised, here are pictures from last night...
Allison is feeling better today and in good spirits. She slept well last night and the pain has eased up. The surgeon stopped by this morning. He has scheduled for her to have exploratory surgery on her abdomen next Thursday, Feb 26. This will put her back in the hospital (assuming she goes home before then) for about five days to recover and then about a six week recovery time at home. It sounds like the GI docs and surgeons are back to thinking this is a duplication cyst. It is the best guess they have to offer. This would be a good thing because it can be removed and then this issue won't recur again.
The OB doc who has been following this case came by today as well. The labs from the placenta came back and there is no evidence of an abruption from the uterine wall. So, he believes that the inflammation from the cyst was the culprit for the rapid delivery. They will probably never know for certain but that is what he is putting in his report since it is the most logical explanation.

A friend/colleague sent me your blog and I just wanted to say what an inspiration your family is - Olivia is a beautiful little miracle and it was so amazing to see her little body skin-to-skin with her mama. It will do wonders for everyone. My family is praying for all of you and look forward to seeing little Olivia grow up big and strong over the next few months!!
