On Friday Allison was having more pain than usual. The visiting nurse came out to check on her that night and suggested she go to the hospital. Of course the only place open on a Friday night is the ER. Thankfully our friend Phyllis was able to take Alli to the ER and stay with her into the wee hours of the morning. Meanwhile, I stayed home with Alvin who was have some kind of 24-hour stomach bug.
The CT Scan at the hospital revealed two abscesses inside Allison's abdomen where the surgery had been done. So Saturday morning they aspirated the smaller of the two infections and put a drain in the other one. Both were infected and the contents sent off to the lab for a culture. She is on antibiotics and feeling better than she did Friday.
The procedure was pretty easy and everything should be okay. The hardest part is the mental aspect of it all. It feels like her recovery is never ending - she takes two steps forward and one back. We know she will be much better in another three or four weeks but it seems so far away. It was unreal that she had to go back to the hospital - almost laughable.
Anyway, here are some more pictures from the past few days...

I went onto your blog today because I was thinking of you all. Sounds like Allison just can't get a break! I hope the docs can nip it in the bud so she can get on with life! I can't believe how much the baby has changed since the last photos you posted. She is just adorable, especially without all the apparatus covering her face. You're all in my prayers. Let us know if there is anything you need.

Glad things are progressing even if it isn't without some setbacks.
