Ah, change is in the air. Fall is coming. But, being that this is a Wible Family Update, there are changes going on with us as well. We are entering a new season that is characterized by a lot of discernment, patience, prayer and waiting. We welcome your prayers as we wait to see what is next.
Our focus as urban missionaries in Denver is shifting. The past few months have involved a lot of conversations, much prayer and a decision that it is time for Chad and me to transition out of leadership in the church we helped found two years ago – Ecclesia Denver. We will have a small involvement over the next few months, but Chad officially resigned his role as Co-Pastor effective August 31. I stepped down from our Leadership Team in July. We love this community and are grieved over this decision. However, due to financial implications with the church it seems this is the best decision for Ecclesia and for us as a family. This is not a decision that we made lightly or on our own. It has been thoroughly discussed and supported with the leadership of the church and wise people we trust. This is the most positive experience we have had in making this kind of transition, because it really does seem the right time.
So while we are grieving, we are also very excited at what could be next for us. Our desire to serve this city and the people in it has not changed. As an Urban Missionary with Urban Skye, I (Allison) have begun working as a pastor/Soul Care Provider out of Pomegranate Place (www.pomegranateplace.org), a position which requires us to continue raising our own financial support. Pomegranate Place is a women's center in the Capital Hill neighborhood of Denver. Its mission is to provide opportunities for women to discover and live out the purposes for which they were created. As such, spirituality is an important part of this mission. It is in this area that I will be working with women and programming events, classes and resources. I also hope to be a presence and resource for women who come through the house, offering spiritual counsel and guidance as needed.
High School soccer season began two weeks ago, which means Coach Wible is back on the field. This is Chad's fourth year as the Head Coach for Machebeuf High School. In addition to coaching, Chad is actively looking at pastoral positions.
In spite of all this change, our family is doing very well. We have loved having a yard during these summer months and spent most evenings on our back patio. Alvin begins preschool next week. Olivia is walking around everywhere and doing fantastic. We have been able to see many family and friends this summer.
