Day two of our retreat included a trip to the City. We left for San Francisco in the morning and spent the entire time in Alvin's favorite city - the city by the bay. The first stop was to drop off eight boxes of books (a donation from our church) to Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary just north of SF. We then stopped at the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge so we could walk across. The kids did well and loved looking at the bay from the bridge despite their paranoid father making them hold a hand and stay back from the guard rail. We even made it half-way across the bridge before turning back with hunger.
To fix the hunger problem we drove down to the Embarcadero where we found a great restaurant called Pier 23. The fish and chips were some of the best I've ever eaten. Since we had such great access to seafood, the kids ate grilled cheese sandwiches.
The rest of the afternoon included a visit to Pier 39 to see the sea lions and then a walk to Ghiradelli square for a sweet ending.
Before driving home we took a little car tour of the city. Drove up to Coit Tower then down Lombard Street.
