On Sunday after worship we all climbed into the wagon and hit the road for Colorado. The first day took us over Carson Pass on Hwy 88 through the Sierras, down into Nevada and Carson City, then up to I-80 for the trek eastward. We made it as far as Elko, NV where we stayed at the Best Western Elko for a night - although we couldn't go to bed before releasing cooped-up energy in the indoor pool and hot tub. The next morning we were able to get an early start. However, a quick lunch stop in Salt Lake City took over an hour. Back on the road we left I-80 in Park City and headed southeast on Hwy 40 through Vernal, UT and Dinosaur, CO on our way to arriving at Steamboat Springs by dinner.
Since Monday night we've eaten very well, swam in the pool a couple of times, biked 12-miles along the Yampa River, hiked a couple of times, watched the homerun derby and the all-star game, played all kinds of games with cousins, and played a little tennis. The four kids left this morning with Allison's parents for GranCamp in Boulder. They will take the scenic route home through Rocky Mountain National Park (seeking Junior Ranger badges and spotting wildlife with their binoculars).
