This morning we went on one last hike in the Steamboat area to an old favorite. Nell and David joined us for the first half of the hike. it was 5.6 miles round-trip.

Olivia Jane Wible

Let us introduce you to our newest addition to the family. Olivia Jane Wible was born at 6:12am on Sunday, Feb 15th at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, CO. She was 13.5 weeks early and weighed in at 1 lb 15 oz. She now lives in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St. Joe's. She is doing very well and breathing on her own with a small supplement of oxygen. She will most likely live here for another three months. As you can imagine, yesterday was an intense, overwhelming, and emotional day. I was woken up at home around 5:45am with a call from Allison's nurse saying that she was bleeding and being taken to labor and delivery. I quickly threw on my clothes from the day before and sped to the hospital. When I arrived the nurses dressed me in scrubs and ushered me into the operating room where Allison was on the table with about 8 or 10 medical staff working on her. We Are Four

Those were the words Alvin used as we drove out of the parking lot at St. Joseph Hospital today. Olivia finally came home with us eleven days after her due date. She spent a total of 105 days or 15 weeks in the NICU. This is the first time a Wible has not been in the hospital since Feb 10th. We are thrilled to have her home. We got home around 2pm and spent the rest of the day here together. For any of her nurses that are checking this, Olivia ate well at 4 and 8 and has slept most of the time since she left St. Joes. Allison and I are debating over who gets the midnight and the 4am feeding. Anyway, she is growing well and currently weighs 7lbs 6oz. Alvin has been great with her. He got to hold her briefly and likes to touch her. He is excited to share his room with her eventually. Once we got settled in, he played with his new Thomas toy much of the afternoon. After dinner, we closed the day by all watching Muppets from Space and eating popcorn. Here are some pictures from the day...

Monday Night

It has been a long day but good in many respects. Olivia is doing great. She is still breathing on her own and all her vitals look good. Today they started phototherapy on her for jaundice. I got to change her diaper and take her temperature. They are now feeding her mom's milk through a tube. Everything with Olivia will be one day at a time and today was a good one for her. Alli is on the good drugs as they continue to manage her pain. Looks like they might try a procedure tomorrow called an endoscopic ultrasound in an attempt to get a biopsy of this cyst. There is a lot of inflammation in the area around the cyst so now the docs want to wait a few weeks and do an exploratory surgery as outpatient. It will be easier for them to see it if the inflammation is gone. So that's all I have right now because I am exhausted and going to bed. Thank you so much for all the comments and emails.
